The last MINI to participate in a World Championship rally!
The WNR 30S, originally a 1978 MINI 1000, was rebuilt to Gr.N specification from a new shell supplied by «Rover Sport» with the newest multipoint injection 1.3L engine, by «Coventry Automotive», which had lots of experience with rally MINIs since the 60’s.
It was entered for the first time in August 1997 as a «Rover Mini Cooper» in the «Neste Rally Finland». With Trevor Godwin at the wheel and Rick Spurgeon navigating, the WNR 30 S would finish 50th overall. Next event would be the “Network Q RAC Rally”, where it finished 83rd.
The sports campaign of this MINI would continue with participations in the WRC in 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004, being the last of those participations the «Telstra Rally Australia» in 2004, unfortunately the result was a DNF due to electrical problems.
In 1998, Corgi Toys launched a 1:36 scale miniature of the WNR 30S, with the number 94, alluding to the participation in the «Rallye de Catalunya» of the same year.
It has recently undergone a thorough «freshen up» and has participated in historical rallies such as the «Rally Legends Luso-Bussaco» and the «RallySpirit Altice», driven by Fernando Soares, with Nuno Rodrigues da Silva navigating.
This historic MINI has all the FIA homologation documents, «RAC Rally» logbook, extensive dossier with the car’s history, information on recent restoration work and history of English documentation since its acquisition by Trevor Godwin in 1997.
Excellent opportunity to acquire a historic rally car, admissible in any historic event of the modality.
